Penn State-Michigan State: Live updates, stats, the latest score, and more
DETROIT — Happy game day, Penn State football fans. The No. 11 Nittany Lions play their final game of the regular season this evening at Ford Field. They play Michigan State at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
“Our guys are excited about going down to Ford Field and playing down there,” Michigan State interim head coach Harold Barnett said. “We have a lot of Detroit-area guys on our team who have actually played in there before in high school, so they’re looking forward to going back down there and having a great game and coming out with a victory.”
The Lions and Spartans are meeting for the first time in an off-campus game. The Big Ten announced the move to the home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions back in the offseason.
“So, the conference, obviously, is trying to create some different days for games to get more coverage for our conference,” Lions coach James Franklin said Tuesday. “So, they approached us about playing Friday night. But, there’s a rule in the conference that, you don’t have to play night games unless everybody agrees to it. So this was part of the conditions in playing it.”
