(WHTM) — A former Pennsylvania treasurer spent thousands a day playing the lottery with city funds instead of depositing the money, the Attorney General announced.

Antoinette Hodge, 54, stole $106,000 in funds during her time as treasurer for Uniontown, Fayette County, and used the money to play the lottery and for other personal expenses, a news release states.

Hodge was the treasurer beginning in 2019 after she got elected. The AG says her main responsibility was to collect and deposit all cash and checks received by the tax office.

"The defendant was elected to a position of trust in her community," Attorney General Henry said in a statement. "She abused that trust and defrauded taxpayers for her own gain, Prosecuting these crimes is vital to maintaining the integrity of local government. My office will continue to protect taxpayers and ensure that any individual who tries to abuse their position will face the consequences of their actions."

Over $1,500 a day was spent on lottery games, the AG says.

Hodge was found guilty of theft, receiving stolen property, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, perjury, and other charges by a Fayette County jury, according to the release.

Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 21.
