JACKSON, MI - The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Grady is a 2-year-old American Staffordshire mix that came in as a stray. Grady is mostly white with a couple brown patches on his back, a brown ear and small freckles in his hair coat.

He certainly is a happy guy and loves to be with his human. He enjoys being outside and playing fetch with the tennis ball.

Grady wants to please you and he is treat motivated. He is learning some basic commands and how to walk nicely on the leash.

Hermoine is a 3-month-old brown tabby cat that came in as a stray. She was pretty frightened at all the new smells and sounds at the shelter, but now she is settling in.

Hermoine is with other cats and seems to get along well with everyone. She has a white chin and distinct tabby markings with the M on her forehead. This kitten loves her toys and has lots of fun playing.

Dog adoptions require an application, online. A meet-and-greet with a dog also is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neutering.
