PLYMOUTH, Conn. (WTNH) — The Terryville Volunteer Fire Department successfully rescued two animals after a structure fire caused a roof to collapse in the Fall Mountain section of Plymouth.

The fire department says Friday afternoon at 2:00, they arrived at a one-story home on Dorothy Ln. with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof. All occupants of the home managed to escape the fire, but two pets were still inside.

While making an interior attack, all firefighters rushed to evacuate the structure after its roof collapsed. Crews switched to an exterior attack and were able to bring the flames under control, rescuing one of the dogs in the process.

Firefighters say one animal was revived by medical personnel, and the others appeared uninjured. They were then transported to a veterinarian for evaluation.

Terryville fire crews along with mutual aid from four other departments, stayed at the scene to extinguish any remaining small pockets of fire.
