PIAA Field Hockey: Camp Hill corrals 1st win since 2000; Mechanicsburg, Northern, West Perry advance

S.Ramirez36 min ago

The Camp Hill field hockey team hadn't qualified for the PIAA tournament since 2003. After its 5-0 Class A first-round shutout of Shady Side Tuesday, further time travel is required.

The Lions (18-4-1), spurred by Liv Hess' hat trick, earned their first state victory in 24 years Tuesday. Camp Hill now shifts to Saturday's quarterfinals against West Perry, a 4-0 opening-round winner over Selinsgrove, at a site and time to be determined.

Emmylou Shover joined Hess with a pair of goals. The latter set off the offensive fireworks with five minutes left in the first quarter before Shover popped for back-to-back scores in the final 55 seconds. Hess then returned to the scoring scene with two third-quarter goals.

Sophomore goalie Piper Reibsane recorded five saves.

Mustangs silence Seals

Four players pocketed a goal in West Perry's 4-0 blanking of Selinsgrove Tuesday. Autumn Albright laid the foundation, scoring in the fifth minute while Shay Dyer and Jordan Byers struck in the second quarter. Emma Stump added insurance in the third quarter, delivering with 20 seconds remaining.

Defense was just as pivotal with Mustang netminder Marty Morrison halting three shots, and West Perry snuffing out six Seal corners.

The Mustangs (21-0) have reached the quarterfinals for the second straight season.
