Pinpoint Weather: Better rain chances Thursday
ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — A higher chance for rain will move into the region on Thursday as a cold front moves across the commonwealth. A few thunderstorms are possible, but severe weather is not expected.
Temperatures will remain warm with temperatures rising into the 70s and 80s after starting in the 50s and 60s.
Temperatures will be near record high temperatures but appear to fall a couple of degrees close. Blacksburg will be the closest with the forecast just one degree away from the record.
Temperatures will begin to trend down on Friday with that trend continuing for the weekend. Slightly warmer air returns early next week.
Hurricane Rafael made landfall just after 4 p.m. in Cuba. The storm will move into the Gulf of Mexico over the next several days, weakening this weekend as shear and dry air impact the storm.
