Pittsburgh Penguins to pay tribute to legendary rock band during upcoming home game
The Pittsburgh Penguins will pay tribute to a legendary rock band by hosting "Grateful Dead Night" during one of their upcoming home games.
In a statement Monday, the Grateful Dead Night will be held during the Penguins Nov. 16 game against the San Jose Sharks at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
The first 500 fans, according to the statement, who purchase a special ticket package for the game will receive "a co-branded Grateful Dead Hockey Jersey." The jersey is black and gold and includes a "large Dancing Bear on the front, holding a hockey stick."
The statement says ticket packages with the jersey included start at $82.
TheCAUSE, a Pittsburgh Jam Band rooted in classic rock that draws heavily from the Grateful Dead, will perform from the BetRivers Deck in the lower concourse pre-game and during both intermissions- the statement outlined.
The Grateful Dead is an American rock band formed in 1965 and known for its style that fused the elements of rock together with various genres including, but not limited to jazz, bluegrass, and country.
