Pittsburgh Steelers could make a surprise trade, but not for a wide receiver, insider says

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching, with under 12 hours left until trades are not allowed for the rest of the season. While teams search for upgrades, the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to look high and low for a wide receiver to bolster that room.

However, one insider says that the Steelers could make a surprise trade at a position other than wide receiver . Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette hinted that the Steelers have looked into defensive tackle, offensive tackle, edge rusher, and cornerback for potential upgrades, and the team could make a surprise move at one of those spots.

"I will tell you this. I will not be surprised at all if the Steelers make a trade. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you I expect it, but I'm not exactly sure it will be for a wide receiver," Dulac said on WDVE Radio ."I think there's some other avenues they might pursue. I don't think, if that's the case, it's gonna be anything blockbuster, that's for sure, but I do think they might make a deal to help improve their depth. And you could look at maybe certain important positions where they're lacking in a little depth because of injuries. So that wouldn't surprise me at all."

Over the last few weeks, all the big national insiders have connected the Steelers to just wide receiver. Since the team traded Diontae Johnson in March, they have tried to make a move to replace him, but they still have yet to do so. Tuesday will be their last chance to land someone who can boost the room.

Pittsburgh and other teams have until 4 p.m. to make a trade go through. After that, only free-agent acquisitions will be the way to boost a wide receiver room.
