PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - In light of Portland's election results, several city commissioners have decided not to renegotiate the homeless response plan with Multnomah County. A termination and renegotiation ordinance was on the table for Thursday, but three commissioners said pulling it allows for space for the new city council, mayor and county commissioners to decide what they want to do. SEE ALSO: Three weeks ago, commissioners Rene Gonzales, Mingus Mapps and Dan Ryan asked the city to dissolve the the homelessness response services intergovernmental agreement. The commissioners felt the joint plan approved in July had failed to meet the community's needs and that the city and county goals were not the same. According to the homelessness response dashboard, since Jan. the system has sheltered or placed almost 7,000 people in housing. That number is 37% of their goal of nearly 19,000 by December 2025.
