TRINIDAD, Colo. (KKTV) -Snow piling up on the roofs of garages and over cars in Trinidad. Some residents tell 11 News they are prepared to be snowed in for the next couple of days.

"I was definitely in shock. I mean I knew everyone said it was going to snow and usually they say it's gonna snow a couple inches but feet is crazy. I've never seen it this bad," Malay Maes, who lives in Trinidad said.

Around two feet of snow has fallen in the Trinidad area over the last two days and it doesn't show any signs of stopping.

"You got there and shovel the walk and you turn around and it's like you didn't shovel at all," interim City Manager for Trinidad Mike Valentine said.

Valentine says its all hands on deck when it comes to clearing the roads in the city.

"When they need a break, they need to rest," Valentine said. "The plow continues to go with another employee from another department."

Crissy Griego tells 11 News it is her son's first birthday tomorrow and they will be snowed in.

"I'll definitely remember this for his first birthday," Griego said. "We have to plan around that now his first birthday is a blizzard."

"Once we get these supplies we're gonna be leaving the house until it clears up," Maes said. "It's just too dangerous."

The next steps for the city are to clear the piles of snow in the streets so people can start to continue life as usual once again.

"We understand please bear with us as we dig ourselves out of this and we're here to help you can call somebody's manning the phones will do our best to get to you," Valentine said.
