Plymouth Barbican stabbing: Six arrested after man injured

Six people have been arrested after a man suffered a suspected stab wound in Plymouth, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to Basket Ope, near the Barbican, on Thursday at about 17:40 GMT following reports of a group of men "shouting and making threats" towards each other.

The force said it was later reported by the ambulance service that a man had been assaulted nearby.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital where he was treated for a "suspected stab wound", police said.

The force said his injuries were not believe to be life-threatening or life-changing and enquiries remained ongoing.

It said said a 27-year old woman, a 46-year old man and a 50-year old man, all from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

It said a 37-year old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class A drug.

A 40-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, it said.

The force added a man, aged 30, of no fixed abode had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.

Police said: "All suspects remain in police custody at this time.

"This incident is not in any way linked to the fatal stabbing in Plymouth earlier this week."
