Poco Loco Supermercado plans $4M travel center in Kyle
A Texas brand continues to add to its portfolio of markets in the Central Texas area. The popular supermarket and convenience store is planning a new pit stop spot in the Pie Capital of Texas.
Poco Loco is aiming to add its sixth store in Kyle with hopes of breaking ground on the $4 million site this December, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing . TDLR filings are subject to change without notice.
Poco Loco has items similar to a Mexican meat market like La Michocana and Culebra Meat Market in San Antonio. Travelers can enjoy weekly specials on meat, deli, produce and Hispanic brands that people might not find Walmart or H-E-B.
Construction is estimated to begin on December 2 and could last around eight months with an anticipated finish date of August 1, 2025, according to the TDLR filing.
The scope of the work includes a "12,030-square-foot building to be constructed of metal stud framed walls, steel structure and concrete foundation. Exterior facade to consist of stucco, natural stone and brick."
Poco Loco Travel Center plans to be at the intersection of Interstate 35 and County Road 208. The brand has full grocery stores as well as convenience store gas fill-up spots. There are stores in Austin, Bryan, Buda, Elgin, Ingram, Nogalitos, San Marcos, Waco and Uhland along with Kyle.
The brand is expanding throughout the Texas Hill Country with plans for a new grocery store set in Mustang Ridge , by nearby Lockhart. Last year, the company announced plans for a new $1.2 million development in New Braunfels as well.
