10-point buck breaks into Hy-Vee on Madison's East Side Wednesday
A 10-point buck — potentially looking to bulk up ahead of the opening of the gun deer hunting season in two weeks — had to be removed from a Hy-Vee on Madison's East side Wednesday.
Police responded to a call for help just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to the Hy-Vee on East Washington Avenue after the buck entered the store through an open door in the pharmacy as staff were unloading products off of a truck, police spokesperson Stephanie Fryer said in a statement. The buck proceeded to run around the store until staff were able to corral it in one of the coolers.
Upon arrival, officers and animal control staff were able to further barricade an area inside the cooler and let the animal out one of the back doors.
"The suspect is free and back out in the wild!" Fryer wrote in the statement.
