State police in Hazleton reported at three incidents of thefts from
vehicles in the borough in the last two weeks.
Someone entered a vehicle owned by James Fogarty of McAdoo while it was
parked at the Subway sandwich shop on East Broad Street sometime between 4 and

Hazleton while the vehicle was parked overnight Saturday into Sunday on Fifth
Street near East Green Street and removed a car stereo, police said.

HAZLE TWP. – State police in Hazleton reported a failed robbery attempt
Saturday morning at a township hotel.
A white male of medium build and about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, wearing a
navy blue hooded sweatshirt, tan pants and sunglasses walked into the Best
Western Genetti Lodge on state Route 309 at about 6:15 a.m. Saturday and
showed a gun to the front desk clerk, police said.
The clerk fled to a rear office until the suspect left the scene on foot.
He was last seen traveling south on state Route 309. The suspect didn’t get
any money in the robbery attempt, police said.
