An alleged gang member was arrested with a sawed-off shotgun on Friday, police said.

Ismael Carrasco, 33, of Pasadena, was taken into custody at a motel in the 2800 block of East Colorado Boulevard around 9:47 p.m., according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Andrea Perez.

Members of the Street Crimes Unit were searching for Carrasco, who is reportedly a member of a north-side Pasadena criminal street gang. The suspect had a no-bail warrant for violating his post-release community supervision related to a narcotics offense, Perez said.

According to Perez, officers located Carrasco in a vehicle at the motel and took him into custody without incident. During the search of the vehicle, police allegedly discovered a sawed-off shotgun.

No other weapons or drugs were reported to be found during the arrest.

Carrasco was arrested for the outstanding warrant and additional gun-related charges, Perez said.

Carrasco was jailed at the Sheriff's Dept. Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles, without bail.
