Police: Man on electric scooter 'weaving' through traffic dies in Richfield crash

A 34-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a driver while riding an electric scooter against traffic in Richfield Thursday.

According to the Richfield Police Department, officers responded to the crash near the intersection of Nicollet Avenue near I-494 at around 5:45 p.m. A man on an electric scooter had reportedly been traveling north in the southbound lane of Nicollet Avenue, with police saying he was "weaving" through traffic.

The driver was then hit by the driver of a Jeep Wrangler who was going south.

The driver of the scooter, 34-year-old Benjamin N. Walker, of Minneapolis, died at the scene.
