Police seek help in identifying suspect in Mansfield fatal shooting

NORTH TEXAS – Police are requesting help in identifying the suspect in a fatal shooting that took place Thursday in a residential area of Mansfield.

The shooting was initially reported as a welfare check just after 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Cutting Horse Drive.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, fled before officers arrived, Mansfield police said.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound, police said. After life-saving measures were performed, he was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to Mansfield police, the Medical Examiner's Office will identify the victim and notify next of kin.

"Detectives are actively investigating to identify a suspect or suspects involved in this incident," Mansfield police said in a news release.
