PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Authorities in Arizona are responding to three separate scenes connected to a double shooting overnight in Phoenix, and it's causing the closure of Interstate 10 in Southern Arizona. According to a lieutenant at the scene, Phoenix police responded to two people with gunshot wounds just before 2 a.m. near 27th Avenue and McDowell Road . Police found that the man and woman were initially shot at a home near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road . They attempted to drive themselves to the hospital but ended up stopping near 29th Avenue and McDowell Road to call 911. The suspect fled the scene south on I-10, where Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and police officers followed him to the Marana area, which is just north of Tucson. Police said he's barricaded inside a vehicle with a gun. The barricade situation prompted authorities to close I-10 in both directions near Cortaro Road. It's unknown when the freeway will reopen. The investigation remains active in both locations. Marana Police, Pinal County Sheriff's Office and DPS is assisting Phoenix Police with the investigation.
