Popular skin clinic beloved by celebrities is forced to close down

Australia's high interest and inflation costs have claimed another victim with the closure of a popular beauty clinic loved by celebrities such as TV presenter Georgia Love.

After nine years in business at Greville Street in Melbourne , brows, skin and makeup experts Victoria Jade closed its doors on Monday.

But the good news is that Ms Jade will continue to trade elsewhere. 'It's just a downsizing, basically so like a bit of a restructure and rebrand,' she told Daily Mail Australia.

'It has been a very tough year for small businesses. And with all the overheads and outgoings on rent and wages, it's just not feasible for my business anymore.

'I was in a position where I was working to pay everyone but myself,' she said.

Ms Jade said that though she she still has a very loyal following, business has slowed down in the last 12 months.

'It's quite prevalent across a lot of industries. So I decided to scale down, and being a single mum, it was just time to put my priorities in place,' she said.

'I think one of the biggest killers has been the cost of living (which led to) a downturn in clientele and spending.'

She also found that people were seeking beauty treatments less often than before.

'Even if people were getting it done, they might stretch it out and do it every two months or three months instead of every month.

'Or wait until they're going on a holiday or something. People have other priorities, and certain people stop spending in certain areas.'

Ms Jade knew what that was like as she had cut back her own spending too.

'I stopped spending on eating out and buying clothes, but some people stop spending on beauty.'

She was heartened, though by huge number of supportive messages left on her Instagram page when she announced the closure.

'I started this business by myself in a little tiny room and it's probably been one of the hardest decisions of my life to make, but it's one of those things where you just have to kind of prioritise yourself and and put forward what's important,' she said.

Ms Jade's next move is that she is renting space from a friend who has opened her own salon.

'I'm just going back to renting a little chair and working in there and just looking after all my old original, regular clients that I've seen for years and years.'

Among those clients have been celebrities such as Ms Love, former international swimmer Giaan Rooney and former Aussie Rules player Abbey Holmes.

'It's a bit of a soft launch at the moment. That's where I'll be until the end of the year anyway,' Ms Jade said.

On social media, she told her clients that their 'loyalty has meant the world to us beyond what you could believe'.

The good vibes went both ways, with one commenter saying they had 'so much love for you and all your girls, so many memories!

'Loved watching you evolve from the little beauty room to taking over the entire space.'

Another wrote that 'You should be so proud of all you have achieved. Excited for you and your next chapter.'

A third said it had been an 'incredible 9yrs & still so many years ahead of u.'
