Portland kicks off the work week with sunny skies, highs near 73

Portland is looking at a mostly dry work week as we start Monday with clear skies and highs warming into the low 70s.

The National Weather Service says high pressure sitting over the region will keep skies clear into Tuesday.

Portland will see sunny skies Monday, and the high temp will reach about 73 degrees. Winds will be north to northeast with gusts as strong as 18 mph.

Tuesday should warm a few degrees under sunny skies. The high temp could reach about 77.

Late on Tuesday a weakening front over the Pacific Ocean will push inland across the coast and into the valleys. By the overnight hours, Portland could see a few spotty light showers. Areas south of about Woodburn may not see any rain.

Wednesday morning will start with clouds, but clear to partly sunny by the afternoon. The daytime high temp will drop about 10 degrees, leaving a high of about 67.

Extended forecasts are showing continued clear skies and sunshine into Thursday and Friday. Highs will be in the mid 70s.

High winds in the eastern Pacific could lead to high surf conditions along the Oregon Coast this week. Use caution.
