Portland weather stays pleasant with afternoon sunny skies Friday through Sunday

The waning days of summer offer up morning clouds and afternoon sunshine with daytime high temps hovering in the low-to-mid 70s in Portland.

The National Weather Service says an uptick in onshore flow across the region Friday will bring in some breezy west to northwest winds in the mountains and through the Columbia River Gorge.

Portland will start the day with mostly cloudy skies that gradually clear to mostly sunny by the afternoon. The high will be about 70 degrees.

Saturday may start off chilly with mostly clear skies overnight allowing temps to dip into the 40s. But the final day of summer will bounce back under sunny skies with a high of about 75 degrees.

Fall starts on Sunday when a weak front pushes across the region bringing in more clouds later in the day, and a very slight chance of a shower in far northwest Oregon and southwest Washington overnight.

Portland will see mostly sunny skies on Sunday and a high of about 76 degrees.

Long range forecasts are beginning to agree on a warmer and drier pattern to start next week when an upper level ridge builds over the Pacific Northwest. Monday should be dry and partly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. It's possible Tuesday warms into the 80s.
