OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - As of 10:00 a.m. Monday, Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is forecasted to strengthen into a tropical storm by Tuesday morning and a hurricane by Wednesday morning, likely to be named Helene.

This will impact western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula before moving northeast into the Florida Panhandle and other surrounding areas along the Gulf Coast.

By the weekend, the Omaha area is also expected to see impacts from this system, on a much smaller scale.

This potential tropical cyclone is expected to make landfall on Thursday and will continue to move northeast into Georgia and other southeastern states, bringing heavy rainfall for many.

By early Saturday, soon-to-be Helene will have moved into the Midwest. This will bring cloud cover into the Omaha area by Friday with rain chances Saturday and Sunday. Another impact to Omaha: increased humidity as the system brings moisture up from the gulf. You can stay up to date with the 6 First Alert Weather Forecast .
