Potential WR solution would not have been welcome in Steelers locker room, insider says

Potential Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver solution Tyler Boyd, who had plenty of interest in returning to his hometown to play for his childhood team, would never have fit in with the locker room, according to insider Mark Kaboly.

Kaboly said that one player with some pull in the organization explicitly did not want Boyd on the team after he had previously made outspoken comments about the Steelers organization during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals.

"I just know the Steelers weren't interested in him," Kaboly said. "Somebody in the organization, player-wise, pretty much stood up and said, 'Nope, we don't want him here.' It was a player, who I think, has some pull."

The Steelers talked with Boyd during the offseason about a return. They could have looked to trade for him during the trade deadline, but with sentiments like this one in the locker room, that seemed all but done.

Boyd has 21 receptions for 184 yards in a Titans offense that has struggled so far. He is from just north of Pittsburgh, playing for the University of Pittsburgh and going to high school at Clairton.
