Potosi woman killed in car crash along Missouri Route 21
POTOSI, Mo. – A 59-year-old woman died after being struck head-on along a Potosi road Wednesday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 48-year-old man was driving a 2008 Mercedes, carrying two other passengers, along Missouri Route 21 near Flamewood Road around 11:30 a.m.
The Mercedes traveled off the roadway, crossing the center and hitting the front of the 59-year-old woman's Chevrolet Traverse, which was also carrying a 59-year-old man.
The 48-year-old man crossed back into the northbound lane, proceeding to hit a 21-year-old woman's Ford F-150 that was also traveling northbound, causing the Ford to hit the Mercedes on the right side of the vehicle.
The 59-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both drivers of the other vehicles and all passengers were transported to the hospital for serious to moderate injuries.
MSHP no longer publicly names those involved in crashes or drownings within their preliminary reports due to recent scams using the information.
