Potosi woman killed in head-on crash on Highway 21
WASHINGTON COUNTY — A woman died Wednesday and four people were injured in a head-on crash along Highway 21 north of Potosi, authorities said.
The woman who died was 59 and lived in Potosi. The Missouri Highway Patrol refused to release her name.
The crash was about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 21 near Flamewood Road.
The patrol said the woman was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse south on Highway 21 when an oncoming SUV crossed the center line and hit her vehicle head-on.
The SUV that caused the crash was driven by a 48-year-old man from Irondale, Mo. His vehicle, a 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, then collided with a third vehicle, a pickup truck.
No one in the pickup was hurt, according to the patrol.
The driver of the Mercedes and a passenger in the Chevrolet suffered moderate injuries. Two passengers in the Mercedes were seriously injured. The patrol's report did not identify the survivors.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, including the woman who died, the patrol said.
