Pro-Palestinian protesters rallied in Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon by marching down Front Street from the Governor's Residence to the Capitol.

That has closed down one of the city's main thoroughfares temporarily.

The rally began at 1 p.m. and the march started around 2:30. It was unknown how long it would take them to reach the Capitol.

This was one of multiple demonstrations taking place in cities around the world on Sunday on the eve of the first anniversary of the deadly Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza .

Since militants attacked southern Israeli communities, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages last Oct. 7, Israel's military retaliation has killed an estimated 42,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza's health ministry.
