FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team will tip off its new season with an exhibition against Notre Dame.

This charity game will take place inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on October 30th at 7pm.

The university announced the match-up on Thursday afternoon, during the Mastodon Open golf fundraiser at the Pine Valley Country Club.

Head coach Jon Coffman said he reached out to a bunch of schools to put something like this together, and he's happy Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry stepped up.

"I got Micah and he said we'd love to do this," Coffman said. "It'll be a great challenge for him. He wants to test his team on the road to get better basketball-wise, and I shared what I thought it could do for our city.

Proceeds from the game will support two local charities: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne.

Tickets for the exhibition go on sale on Friday at noon.
