Quentin Moore injury update: Jedd Fisch shares plan for Washington TE's future
Jedd Fisch indicated that tight end Quentin Moore is likely done for the season as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Moore suffered the injury in the season opener against Weber State and has not played since.
Fisch explained in his Monday press conference that Moore has still not been given the green light to play by medical staff. With that being the case and only three games remaining on the Huskies' schedule, it would make more sense for him to take a medical redshirt than try to come back at this point.
"As the weeks progress and his injury was what it was, he hasn't been medically cleared to play yet," Fisch said . "So it's Week 10 now and he's still not medically cleared. So I think if that continues through the 12 weeks that he's not medically cleared, which I don't think he will be, then he only had 11 plays, 12 plays. I think it happened within the first 15-20 plays of the game.
"If that was the case, then I feel pretty confident (that he will be granted a medical redshirt). They don't like to take a person's year away with an injury that happened early in the season."
Moore is in his sixth season of college football, having played the past four at Washington after spending his first two at the JUCO level. Now it appears the Huskies are hoping he will be able to return for seventh.
The 6-foot-4 tight end has appeared in 29 games with five starts over his career in Seattle. He made the game-winning touchdown catch in the Big Ten Championship against last season. However, his numbers have been unremarkable outside of that with just eight catches for 85 yards in his entire four years.
Either way, it only seems right that Moore gets another chance next year in light of his injury. For now, the Huskies will move on without him as they look to close out the season on a high note.
