An investigation has been launched after a man was able to board an EasyJet plane at Manchester Airport without a boarding pass.

The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested after the packed easyJet flight EZY2127 was about to depart to Milan on Friday night.

He reportedly passed through security checks at Terminal 1, but cabin crew on board the flight realised he wasn't meant to be there whilst the plane was on the runway.

After police were informed, every passenger had to disembark and luggage was returned to passengers, ITV News report.

Both the police and airport officials said the man posed no threat to the plane or the passengers and there was no suggestion the incident was terror-related.

Greater Manchester Police told the publication: 'At around 7pm last night (Friday 4 October 2024), we were called to Manchester Airport to reports of a man who had embarked on a flight without the correct documentation.

'On arrival back to the terminal, officers arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of secrete self for the purpose of being carried in an aircraft without consent and intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance.

'He remains in police custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.'

MailOnline has contacted EasyJet for comment.

This comes after a desperate easyJet captain implored a topless passenger to sit down and wait for police after forcing a landing in Athens over the disruption.

Video showed how the troublemaker, allegedly under influence of alcohol, argued with fellow travellers before being hauled off Tuesday's flight from Turkey to London Gatwick.

Cabin crew and another passenger can be seen trying to de-escalate the situation, as shouts of protest are heard in the background.

'To the people who are fighting, the police are waiting for us at the gate. You are only making things worse for yourself. Please sit down,' the captain says over the speaker.

Passengers are visibility annoyed by the unnecessary delay, one woman calling out to the man: 'You've f****d us all up you silly c**t. You've f****d us all up.'

Staff are seen trying to dress the man as he shuffles down the aisle towards down towards another passenger meeting him in the middle.
