Sports Radio Hosts Send Strong Message to Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones After Being Threatened

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did himself no favors by threatening to have two Dallas-area radio hosts fired after a series of questions that put him on the defensive following his team's 3-3 start.

During a Tuesday morning interview on 105.3 The Fan's "Shan and RJ," Jones was asked about not signing any of the premier free agents available this offseason plus his general failure to upgrade the Cowboys roster despite losing several top stars like runnign back Tony Pollard, offensive tackle Tyron Smith, center Tyler Biadasz, defensive end Dorance Armstrong and cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Instead of taking accountability, he started finger-pointing, getting increasingly hostile, and threatening to have both of the show's hosts fired, which didn't sit right with their of them.

"It's really insulting, really demeaning, really insulting and again, out of nowhere," Shan Shariff said on Wednesday's morning's show. "We have done 14 years of interviews with this man."

"I didn't get upset with it, but it was like, 'You know what? Screw you man,'" added RJ Choppy.

Shariff made sure to clarify that despite his show airing on the flagship station of the Cowboys, which gives him and Choppy special perks like access to Jones, head coach Mike McCarthy and certain players, Audacy and not Jones signs his checks even though Jones claimed he pays both hosts.

Jones' belief that he was paying Shariff and Choppy is allegedly why he responded as angrily as he did during their interview.

"If I'm going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don't need it to be by the guys I'm paying. I can take it from fans and take it from other people," Jones told The Athletic. "...The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now, if those had been real fans sitting there or if there had been people that knew what they were talking about, football people, I might have had a different answer."
