E.Anderson36 min ago
Rail passengers are being warned of disruption to services through parts of Yorkshire due to a power outage.

National Rail said all lines between Doncaster and Wakefield had been closed following damage to a telegraph pole in the Adwick area, leaving it "dangerously close to the overhead electric wires".

A spokesperson said Northern Powergrid staff were on site and working to resolve the problem "as soon as possible", but warned of possible delays and cancellations lasting until around 20:00 BST.

Passengers travelling on Grand Central, LNER and Northern services in the area are advised to check before they travel .

Posting on X , the operator's managing director David Horne apologised to customers for the disruption and said he hoped the line would reopen later on Monday.

Northern said rail replacement services could add an additional 45 minutes to travel times for customers.

Grand Central has advised passengers that its services would continue, however, they were diverting via Pontefract Monkhill, which may add an additional 15 minutes to journey times.
