Reader's View: Open minds, hearts to reject mass deportations

Bea Larson's meaningful Sept. 20 "Local View" column in support of immigrants ("In Duluth or Ohio, demonizing immigrants is heartbreaking") could help educate anti-immigrant Republicans taken in by the lies of former President Donald Trump — if only they would open their minds and hearts. How can they claim a moral high ground when rejecting the Bible's teachings to welcome the stranger?
Maybe this is too obvious to mention, but if Trump succeeds with his mass-deportation threat, this country would face economic challenges, Social Security would have fewer workers putting into it, and who would toil in the fields harvesting our food?
