Reading Reno: John Trent, Laura Rocke document UNR’s 150-year history in new book

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - John Trent is the current senior editor of news and features for the University of Nevada, Reno and author of the University's newly published sesquicentennial book, . He has also come to be known as the University's unofficial historian.

Trent and Laura Rocke, community and university archivist, stopped by Morning Break to talk about the process of writing UNR's history and finding the correlating pictures to go with them.

The book includes a rich written history of the University accompanied by historical images of the campus. Trent, whose father was a professor in the College of Education for 20 years, grew up on the University campus. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University and has spent more than 24 years collectively on campus as a writer and editor telling stories of the University's history and current-day news and events.
