RealTruck Debuts Two Bear Grylls Adventure Vehicle Concepts

W.Johnson43 min ago

It seems like just about everyone on the planet is aware of Bear Grylls through his show Man Vs. Wild and via a slew of commercials highlighting his survival skills. The man has eaten unspeakably gross insects and other matter that I can't repeat here without gagging and has gleefully shown the multiple uses of animal droppings. I mean, his parachute failed in Kenya and he fell 16,000 feet, breaking three vertebrae and living to tell the tale.

Now Grylls is embarking on a new endeavor with the TV show "Adventure Garage with Bear Grylls" airing next year. To kick it off, global aftermarket product and accessory brand RealTruck partnered with the survivalist to design and build two extra-tough concepts from a 2021 Ford F-150 and a 2024 Toyota Tacoma.

Both are emblazoned with the word "Bear" in Grylls' honor. And no, his real name isn't Bear—that's a nickname his older sister gave him when he was just a baby—he was born Edward Michael Grylls.

Adventure Vehicles Showcase RealTruck Accessories

Grylls' show features "extreme vehicle transformations" that are fit for the most rugged parts of the world and in keeping with Grylls' brand. "Adventure has been the great bedrock and strength in my life," Grylls says.

Built by the Superlift Suspension team in West Monroe, Louisiana, these two concepts are currently on display at the RealTruck booth at this year's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show.

These trucks are just a sampling of what is happening in the industry, as more and more people are getting into overlanding, camping, and off-roading. Companies like RealTruck and eBay Motors have seen a huge surge in accessories sales, and showing how they can be used on a concept is one way to inspire buyers.

On Trend Custom Concepts

The Ford F-150 includes a Husky Liners Rocker Guard, Low Profile Vent Visors and LightShield Pro, Bushwacker Pocket Style Fender Flares, Go Rhino Element Front Bumper, Sport Bar 2.0, Dominator Xtreme DT Side Step, and an XVenture Gear Hard Case.

With similar elements but in a different vein, the Toyota Tacoma gets its vibe with GoRhino XVenture Gear Tool Rolls and Xplor Blackout Series Maxline Hi/Low LED Round Lights, RealTruck Sport Bar, Husky Liners Weatherbeaters, Universal Mud Guards and Low Profile Vent Visors.

Also on display at the SEMA show is a collaboration with NBA superstar Dwayne Wade with a custom 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty. Modifcations include a RealTruck Superlift 6-inch lift kit with King coilovers and rear shocks, RealTruck RetraxPRO MX tonneau cover, RealTruck AMP Research BedStep and Powerstep XL, and Husky Liners Weatherbeater floor liners. The truck will be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson's spring event in April, and all proceeds will benefit Wade's non-profit organization Social Change Fund United (SCFU). This organization, co-founded by the basketball legend, harnesses its influence and resources to help underrepresented communities of color.

Legendary artist and designer Chip Foose joined forces with RealTruck for another vehicle that will be auctioned for charity. This one is a 2021 Ford F-150 with a traction recovery winch, a Rugged Ridge traction recovery kit, Go Rhino rear and front bumpers, Husky Liners RVL fender flares, all from RealTruck. This vehicle's proceeds will be donated to the Progeria Research Foundation, which helps with treatments and works toward finding a cure for Progeria, a rare, genetic "premature-aging" disease that accelerates mortality in young patients.
