Residents in Westmoreland County react to Trump's presidential victory
The red wave hit Westmoreland County and that includes the presidential election.
Some voters tell Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that now that Donald Trump has been elected, they are eager for what is to come.
Gary Richardson, from Latrobe, said he feels relieved with the outcome.
"Such a weight off the shoulders. Everyone was scared there for a while. But, taking America back," Richardson said.
More than 134,000 Westmoreland County voters cast their ballots for Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris only got roughly 74,000 votes in.
Pennsylvania was a huge win for Trump, and it gave him the electoral votes needed to close the gap on the presidency.
Ken Vaniel, from Ligonier, was happy about the outcome.
"It's absolutely fantastic. Country has been on the wrong track for the last four years, and I'm looking forward to getting back to the good economy and the border control that we had under President Trump," Vaniel said.
Pittsburgh's Action News 4 spoke with both sides of the political spectrum in Westmoreland County.
Some are relieved knowing Trump will now become the 47th president of the United States.
They cited his policies as the main reasoning behind their support.
"They're pretty straightforward. You know, Kamala just lies and pretty much taking everything he says and shoving it in our faces. Like that's their policy. It's just a joke," Richardson said.
"He was really good with the economy when he was in office. There were no wars under him. He governed through strength. And I think that that's really what we need," Vaneil said.
While others, like Alicia Rose, who lives in Latrobe, are scared going into the future.
"We'll see what happens. He was president once before. There was some good things, some bad things. But I'm low-income. So I do worry, you know, because there's a lot of back and forth, don't know who to trust back," she said.
