Results of the La Crosse and Tomah School referendums
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Voters passed the School District of La Crosse's $53 million referendum last night with more than 20,000 "Yes" votes against 13,000 "No". The referendum will fund a new, centrally located, elementary school along with additions and upgrades to State Road Elementary. As a result, Emerson, Spence, and Hintgen Elementary Schools and the Hogan Administrative Center will close.
The district says staff will begin in-depth planning for the new and expanded spaces in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the Tomah Area School District's $177 million capital referendum has failed 372 "No" votes to just 231 "Yes" votes. The money would have gone towards a new high school, and renovations to the current high school, middle school and elementary school buildings.
