Step Forward: AG seeks Pennsylvanians who are owed money

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry is calling on certain consumers who may be owed restitution to step forward, following a significant settlement with Vision Property Management.

The case, which involved allegedly illegal rent-to-own agreements, led to a restitution fund that remains unclaimed by some consumers.

Henry's office is specially trying to reach individuals involved in "rent-to-own" or "agreement-for-dead" arrangements with Vision Property Management or its subsidiaries between 2011 and 2019. Those who never received the deed to a property nor any prior communication about restitution from the Office of Attorney General are encouraged to contact the office immediately.

Eligible consumers have until Nov. 15 to reach out, ensuring they are considered for restitution. The office can be contacted at 1-800-441-2555 or through their website at www.attorneygeneral.gov .

The settlement, announced earlier this year, resolved litigation that began in 2019 over Vision Property Management's practices. In addition to restitution, around 250 consumers have already been awarded deeds to homes under the terms of court-ordered "rent-to-own" contracts. The current restitution funds, however, are available only for those who have not received deeds.
