PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — We're squarely into the fall season, but it's been feeling more like summer in Rhode Island.

On Wednesday, the temperature topped out at 77 degrees, breaking the record of 75 degrees set two years ago. Last Friday, we reached 80 degrees, which was two degrees higher than the previous record from 1974.

Temperatures are expected to continue to trend above average, but some much-needed rain may soon be on the way.
