Richmond Township bridge reopens, construction pauses for winter
RICHMOND TOWNSHIP, Pa. ( WETM ) — A bridge in Richmond Township temporarily reopened about three months after it closed for a construction project.
According to PennDOT, the bridge that carries Route 6 over a tributary to North Elk Run, located about 2.8 miles east of Route 660 in Charleston Township and about 2.5 miles west of Route 15 in Mansfield, reopened on Nov. 1. Crews removed the temporary traffic barriers, and the detours for North Schodac Road and South Schodac Road were lifted.
Roadwork continues in Liberty
The bridge was previously closed for a two-year-long bridge replacement project, and it will only be open for the winter season. The bridge will close again when crews resume construction this spring. The bridge replacement project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026, and the project will shut down again next winter.
Crews will be performing miscellaneous construction activities in the area during the week of Nov. 4 while preparing the project for a winter shutdown. Motorists who drive through the area this week should remain alert, slow down, and drive with caution while crews are working.
