Ritter, Rojas endorsed by Connecticut House Democrats for top roles
CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — The Connecticut House Democrats endorsed candidates for the speaker of the House of Representatives and House majority leader on Wednesday, according to a press release.

They have chosen Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) for the speaker of the House role and Jason Rojas (D-East Hartford, Manchester) as the House majority leader.
Ritter is currently the speaker of the House, and will be elected a the opening day of the 2025 legislative session.
"I am extremely grateful for my colleagues' support," Ritter said. "As speaker of the House, my job is to serve every member of the chamber and I take that charge very seriously. Working together is what makes Connecticut great."
Rojas represents the 9th assembly district and is a lifelong Connecticut resident.
"I am grateful and honored that my colleagues have entrusted me with the responsibility of being their Majority Leader," Rojas said. "I love serving my district and I love serving my colleagues as we work to enact policies that advance the interest of our neighbors, our communities and our state."
Ritter and Rojas point to tax cuts, budget reserves and investments in education as key accomplishments they've had during their stewardship of House Democrats.
