Rob McElhenney endures emotional rollercoaster as Phillies beat Mets in sensational MLB playoff game

Rob McElhenney was dialed in, watching his hometown Philadelphia Phillies , going through the same emotional rollercoaster many sports fans endured during Sunday's game against the Mets.

The massive City of Brother Love sports fan and co-owner of Wrexham posted three messages to X about the National League Division Series game 38 minutes apart.

The first came as the Philles took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning: 'Baseball is fun.'

Nineteen minutes later came Mark Vientos' 2-run, game-tying home run to bring the Mets even at 6-6.

The corresponding McElhenney message: 'Baseball is fine.'

Exactly 19 minutes after his second post came his last at 7:23 Eastern, when Nick Castellanos drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Phillies a 7-6 win and send the series back to New York tied 1-1.

'cElhenney said in all capital letters.

McElhenney being glued to the television shows he has time to stress about sports like many others in the world.

The Phillies did not hold a lead in Game 2 of this NLDS until the bottom of the eighth inning, a few moments before McElhenney's first post to X.

Had Philadelphia not found a way to come back against the Mets twice, New York would play its next two games with the possibility of eliminating their division rivals from the postseason.

Now, this best-of-5 series turns essentially into a best-of-3 with it tied at a game apiece.

Game 3 between the Phillies and Mets is scheduled for Tuesday night.
