Sports Rodgers Sharp, Jets Lead Patriots, 14-3, in 2nd Quarter

Last time Aaron Rodgers played a game at MetLife Stadium he only played four snaps. On Thursday night against the New England Patriots he's taking the time to give a quarterbacking clinic.

Rodgers is in vintage form, seeing the field and and getting the ball off quickly with his trademark wrist flick. He's hitting receivers in stride, and delivering the ball so fast that New England's pass rush doesn't have time to get near him.

Rodgers has also looked nimble - even at times, quick - buying time in the pocket and on one play avoiding the rush and scrambling to a sliding stop. As Jets' fans held their breath, he popped up and jogged back to the huddle.

Late in the first half the Jets lead, 14-3, and Rodgers is 12 of 14 for 135 yards and a touchdown. His 10-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard gave New York an early lead. On the Jets' next drive he hit Lazard for 27 more yards and tight end Tyler Conklin for 22 that set up Breece Hall's twisting 1-yard touchdown run for a 14-0 lead.

The Patriots responded with a 44-yard field goal from Joey Slye, made possible by a 34-yard pass interference penalty on Jets' cornerback D.J. Reed.
