McIlroy pocketed a cool €4.74million for his third DP World Tour Championship victory and sixth Race to Dubai to claim over €24.5million for the year with Lowry earning €8.27million.

The Co Down man (35) won €2,842,443 for claiming a two-shot win over Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard and an extra €1.9million ($2million) from the $6million bonus pool awarded to the top 10 in the final Race to Dubai standings.

Not including bonus money, McIlroy's 18th DP World Tour win from 252 starts took his career earnings on the European circuit to €59,833,086.

Including PGA Tour counting events, he won €9,170,631 in prize money on the DP World Tour this year, winning three seven-figure cheques.

The Holywood star won €1,406,040 for his fourth career win in the Dubai Desert Classic in January and €2,163,841 for finishing second to Bryson DeChambeau in the US Open in June.

Of course, the Holywood star also made massive money on the PGA Tour - $10,893,790 in official winnings plus $1,608,333 for finishing ninth in the FedEx Cup and an extra $4.8 million for finishing third in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 for a total of $17,302,123.

This included $1,286,050 for winning the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry and another $3.6million for his win in the Wells Fargo Championship.

His European earnings alone were €6,210,479 plus his €1.9 million Race to Dubai bonus for €8.2million, bringing his total for the year on both sides of the pond to $29.4million or €24.5million.

His earnings still pale compared to world number one Scottie Scheffler, who won eight times in 2024, including the Masters, The Players and the Olympic gold medal, and a season-closing triumph at the big-money Tour Championship.

Scheffler earned over $62million (€58.7m) in 2024 - $29million on the course plus the $25million FedEx Cup Playoff bonus and the $8million Comcast Business Top 10 bonus.

His massive haul made his the highest-earning season in PGA Tour history, more than twice the $29 million banked by second-ranked Xander Schauffele.

Lowry also had a bumper year.

The Offaly man won a $2million bonus for finishing 10th in the PGA Tour's Comcast Business Tour top 10, plus a FedEx Cup bonus of $1,608,333 to go with official PGA Tour earnings of $6,095,881 for a total of $7.7million in the US alone.

Lowry also banked €525,220 for finishing third in Dubai on Sunday, which brought his earnings from non-PGA Tour events he played on the European circuit this year to €978,599.

Coupled with his PGA Tour earnings, Lowry finished 2024 with total earnings of $8.73million or €8.27million.
