Route 6 truck crash kills one

Richmond Township, Pa. — A 75-year-old man was killed on Wednesday when the Jeep Patriot he was driving was struck by a Kenworth tractor trailer.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Routes 6 and 549 at 2:47 p.m.

According to a police report, Ronald Padleski of Mainsburg, Pa., was pulling off from the side of Route 549, turning left onto Route 6 east when he was hit by the Kenworth Northwest T800, driven by Patrick Powers, 58, of Mansfield. Powers was traveling west on Route 6 and struck Padleski's Jeep.

Padleski was taken to UPMC where he died from his injuries, according to the report. He was wearing his lap and shoulder belt, the report indicated.

Assisting on scene in addition to PSP Mansfield were Mansfield Fire/EMS, PennDOT, American Truck Stop, and Crosskey's Towing. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
