San Antonio TV anchor announces departure after 2 years
San Antonio viewers will soon say goodbye to a local broadcaster who moved to the Alamo City two years ago. KENS 5 weekend morning forecaster and weekday reporter Maggie Laughlin shared she will depart from the San Antonio station toward the end of November.
"I have absolutely loved my time here in San Antonio. It has provided me with immense personal growth and lasting relationships that I will carry with me throughout my life. As someone who has always been a bit of a gypsy and loves to explore, I plan to continue my adventures," Laughlin told MySA.
She says the past two years have been wonderful and will always consider San Antonio one of her homes.
"As I prepare to leave, I want to express how much I will miss the community and my coworkers. Words cannot fully convey my gratitude to my News Director, Jack Acosta, for taking a chance on me and bringing me to San Antonio. This city holds so much magic, and it has provided me with the growth and confidence to dream bigger than I ever thought possible," she told MySA. "Being here without family has certainly presented its challenges, but it has also taught me resilience and the importance of seeing the bigger picture. I believe that one of the most valuable skills in life is finding peace amid uncomfortable growth. San Antonio has challenged me to embrace this, and I truly feel that I am a better person for it."
While she isn't disclosing much about her next adventure she said she is excited about finding more balance in her schedule to make room for pursuing her other dreams.
"As you all know, I love to talk, and I can share that my next step will definitely involve a camera," she said. "The number one thing I might won't miss is the 2 a.m. alarms."
Laughlin joined the CBS-affiliate in 2022 after working in at KEPR Action News in Washington as a weather anchor and reporter. She is a Virginia native who graduated from Marymount University with a B.A. in broadcast journalism. According to her KENS 5 bio , Laughlin was a cheerleader for the Washington Commanders and also competed in state pageants. While in San Antonio she began instructing barre and pilates classes.
"Words cannot express how grateful I am for the warm welcome I received from day one. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives by inviting me into your homes during the early morning hours and trusting me to emcee events in the community. I will always cherish my time in San Antonio as a vital step toward pursuing my dreams. This city is filled with so much magic and light, and I hope to carry some of that light with me forever. Thank you for your support as I embark on this new journey," she said.
