San Diego Weekend Guide: Nov. 15-17 – Camping & Crooning
Parents, aunties, uncles, godparents, et al, unite! This San Diego weekend is for the kiddies, not to mention those who love Christmas. Let the holiday revels begin.
First up, see San Diego Music Award winner Sara Petite celebrate the Beat Farmers and Mojo Nixon at 8 p.m. Friday with San Diego Music Hall of Famer Jeff Berkley. Chloe Lou, Shawn Rohlf and Ariel Levine are among others on the bill. Tickets for the show, at the Ken Club in Kensington, cost $15.
Snapdragon Stadium hosts Punk In The Park , with a slate of bands headed by The Offspring and Pennywise, at noon Saturday. Look out for craft beer tastings too. Head to Thrive Park at Snapdragon Stadium. Admission, with fees, starts at $110.
The San Diego State University President's Concert at Balboa Theatre features the SDSU Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 as well as works by special guest composer John Mackey. Tickets for the show, at 7 p.m. Saturday, are free for the SDSU community.
Common Theory Public House hosts Filipino Night at its Otay Ranch location on Saturday. The celebration features tagalog songs from Chula Vista native Katriz Trinidad , who appeared on Season 7 of "The Voice." She performs at 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy Filipino-inspired specials while sipping on Buko Pandan Haze beer from GOAL. Brewing .
