Yesterday, local police in American Canyon made an arrest following a routine traffic stop. According to the American Canyon Police Department , at roughly 10:30 p.m., an officer stopped a silver Mercedes on American Canyon Road because it was missing a front license plate and a faulty taillight. The encounter quickly escalated from a traffic infraction to a criminal matter when the officer discovered a loaded firearm.

Jayvontay Williams, 21, of San Francisco, was the driver behind the wheel. During the stop, a loaded, unregistered Glock 19 handgun was located in the purse of his juvenile passenger. "Williams admitted to placing the firearm in the juvenile's purse when the police initiated the stop," as stated by the American Canyon Police Department . This incident has dredged up Williams' criminal history, revealing him as a convicted felon currently out on court release from charges in San Mateo and Alameda Counties.

Williams' legal troubles have compounded as he was arrested and charged with several felonies, including possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction. There's also the matter of carrying a loaded firearm with a prior firearms conviction and possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
