Sandi Tree returns for 13th year to West Palm Beach The Sandi Tree is back in West Palm Beach for the 13th consecutive year, with 850 tons of sand being delivered along Clematis Street for sculpting."The majority of it will be used for the tree we're going to have some of it for the sand pit that is going to be here on the side, we're going to have some other mini sculptures by the sea wall," says Alexis Fundora, community events coordinator for the City of West Palm Beach.The sand delivery process is currently underway, and the transformation and sculpting will begin over the next few weeks.Of the 850 tons of sand, 700 tons will be used for the Sandi Tree, while the remaining 150 tons will be used for other sculptures along the water and a sandbox for children to play in."The whole tree is just formed strictly of sand, there's no frame on the inside. It's formed in layers from the top down," Fundora explains.This year's holiday extravaganza theme is "Sandi Shares Harmony," encouraging people to leave their worries behind.Additionally, a "Drama Llama" theme will be featured and showcased during the grand opening on Dec. 5."We have a couple surprises we don't want to reveal yet but it's definitely going to be a nice treat in store for everybody!"
