Santa Clarita Arrests Jump Back Up Over Halloween Weekend
Santa Clarita weekend crime numbers jumped back up over the Halloween weekend, with primarily drug- and alcohol-related arrests.
Between Friday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 3, a total of 33 arrests were made over the Halloween weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley by law enforcement agencies, primarily the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) SCV Station and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office .
Nine arrests were made by the Newhall CHP Office, while LASD deputies made the remaining 24 from the Santa Clarita Valley and Lancaster Stations.
The 33 reported arrests is a marked increase from the previous weekend, which reported only 11 arrests made over the weekend.
Approximately one-third of the arrests made were for drug- and alcohol-related crimes, including drinking under the influence and possession of illegal substances and paraphernalia.
A majority of the arrests (21) were misdemeanors, with only 12 felony arrests, including robbery, organized retail theft, and child abuse.
Of the 33 arrests made over the weekend, just over half (17) reported addresses from outside our community, including Los Angeles proper, Palmdale, and Bakersfield residents.
