Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar impressively celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on September 1, and one of the secrets to their lasting union involves keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.

'That's by choice, though. You can control it to a certain degree,' the 48-year-old Girl in the Pool actor explained on the Oldish Podcast Sunday.

'I don't know how deliberate [other celebrities] are in trying to avoid that BS, other people. I know how easy it's been for us because I don't go anywhere. I don't go to parties. People don't see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places.

'We have our restaurants that we like, and they're not super trendy in places where, you know, paparazzi hang out. So we're good at avoiding it.'

For instance, Freddie - who has 'way more famous' neighbors - will deliberately wait to leave his home until the photographers parked at the bottom of his street 'follow Schwarzenegger and leave me alone.'

'I'm not trying to s*** on anyone, but it's not that hard [to avoid attention,] if you really [want to],' Prinze Jr. scoffed.

'There's no secret to it and it wasn't, like, hard. We just don't like that life, you know? She grew up in New York. She experienced everything before she was 21 years old, like, nightclubs and all that stuff. And I can count on one hand how many clubs I've been [to] my whole life.'

The WWE Rivals host and the 47-year-old Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum are far more likely to be spotted at theme parks like Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm.

Freddie and Sarah are proud parents of 15-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze and 12-year-old son Rocky James Prinze.

Prinze Jr. and Gellar originally met in 1997 on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer and, while her character was killed off, he will soon reprise the role of fisherman Ray Bronson in Sony Pictures' untitled fourth film hitting US theaters July 18.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct the latest chapter in the $165.3M-grossing horror franchise in Australia starring Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, and Billy Campbell.

Mr. Golden Globe 1996 currently executive produces and hosts a podcast about the WWE called Wrestling with Freddie and a podcast about horror films called That Was Pretty Scary.

Freddie - who's an avid chef - also co-created the YouTube Channel Gegghead with Jon Lee Brody and Clare Grant, which features 'everything from gaming to sketch comedy.'

Meanwhile, the Daytime Emmy winner will next portray Miami Metro Police Department forensics expert Tanya Martin in the 10-episode prequel Dexter: Original Sin, which premieres December 13 on Paramount+ with Showtime.
